<image:caption>If you've lived in America at any point over the last 21 years, you've most certainly heard My Own Worst Enemy. How and why did My Own Worst Enemy become permanently woven into our pop culture consciousness? Over four episodes, we explore the history of the band, the creation of the song, it’s radio dominance at the turn of the millennium, the anatomy of a hit, and the ways in which it has become permanently embedded in American pop culture. Conversations with the band and musical peers like Butch Walker, Adrian Young of No Doubt, Ben Osmundson from Zebrahead and Noodles from The Offspring, as well as label executives, radio hosts, professional songwriters and musicologists tell the story behind the seminal song that has been in constant rotation since its release in 1999. Produced in partnership with Osiris Media for Round Hill Music.</image:caption>

The podcast is a deep dive into vintage R&B from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Neil records, edits, and produces each episode. I brought this podcast to Osiris in 2020 and we’ve released 13 episodes to date. We are creating merchandise for this podcast, developing a subscription tier for hardcore fans, and partnering with vinyl clubs to promote the show to vinyl collectors.</image:caption>

The show traces the local roots of the music, and details the rise and fall of the grunge scene, including the triumphs and tragedies experienced by artists and fans. The series features new first-hand accounts from the people who made this scene happen, including Seattle music legends Duff McKagan, Kim Thayil and Jerry Cantrell; iconic DJ Marco Collins; label executives Michael Goldstone and Debi Lipetz; Seattle music insiders Daniel House and Charles Cross; and many others. The show concludes with a look toward the future—examining the legacy of the ‘90s scene and highlighting artists carrying the city’s music forward, such as Ben Gibbard, Ayron Jones, Eva Walker, Travis Thompson and others who will create Seattle’s next Breaking Wave.
